BMW X5: Replacing Rubber Mounts For Front Axle Carrier In Both Lower Control
Arms
Special tools required:
- 31 4 151
- 31 4 152
- 31 4 153
IMPORTANT: For reasons of driving dynamics, the rubber mounts may only
be replaced in
pairs (refers to left and right control arms)!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Check ball joint of both control arms while installed, replace lower
control arm if necessary.
- Remove both lower control arms.
Press rubber mount with special tools 31 4 151 and 31 4 152 out of control
arm.

IMPORTANT: Use rubber mount with spline teeth (1)!

Installation:
Keep rubber mount (1) and bushing in control arm clean and free from oil and
grease.
Press rubber mount (1) (from chamfered end of control arm bushing) with special
tools 31 4 152 and 31 4 153
into control arm bushing as far as it will go.

After installation:
- Perform CHASSIS ALIGNMENT CHECK
- Carry out steering angle sensor adjustment/adjustment for active front
steering.
REPLACING RUBBER MOUNTS FOR SPRING STRUT HOLDER IN BOTH LOWER
CONTROL ARMS
Special tools required:
- 31 4 151
- 31 4 152
- 31 4 154
IMPORTANT: For reasons of driving dynamics, the rubber mounts may only

- Check ball joint of both control arms while installed, replace lower

- Remove both lower control arms.

Installation:
