REPLACING SHAFT SEAL FOR RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT
Special tools required:
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Lever shaft seal (1) out of bearing block with a screwdriver (2).

Installing shaft seal:
NOTE: The installation protective ring (1) serves to protect the sealing lips on shaft seal (2) when the output shaft is being installed.

IMPORTANT: Installation protective ring must not slip out of shaft seal!
Drive in shaft seal with special tool 31 4 160 as far as it will go.
Carefully remove special tool 31 4 160.
Open installation protective ring (1).

After installation:
REPLACING O-RING FOR BEARING BLOCK
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Remove bearing block.
Remove O-ring (1) with a suitable tool from bearing block (2).
Installation:
Insert O-ring (1) in groove and coat with front differential oil.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT BEARING BLOCK
WARNING: N62: Danger of explosion! There is a danger of short circuiting on account of the small distance between the bearing block screw connection and the starter motor.
Disconnect battery negative lead.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Release screws (1).
Remove bearing block from oil sump.
Installation:
Replace O-ring.
Tightening torque.

Replacement:
Remove sealing caps.
