BMW X5: Replacing Seat Cover For Left & Right Rear
Special tools required:
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear seat.
- Remove rear panel trim.
Disengage welt in marked area from seat mechanism.
Disengage welt in marked area from seat mechanism.
Installation:
Make sure metal lugs in welt are correctly engaged.
Version with seat heating only:
Unfasten plug connection and disconnect.
Release retainers in marked area.
NOTE: Remove all remnants of clips from cover and support.
Installation:
Insert new retainer (2) with special tool 52 0 050 and bend closed.
- Padding
- Retainer
- Trim wire in padding
- Trim wire in seat cover
- Seat cover
Replacing seat cover:
Pull trim threads out of seat cover.
Cut new seat cover to size and insert trim wires.
REPLACING SEAT COVER FOR REAR SEAT (THROUGH-LOADING SYSTEM)
Special tools required:
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Open tension cable (1).
Remove tension cable from wire eyelets (2).

Disconnect retainers in marked area.
Remove all remnants of clips from cover and support.

Installation:
Insert new retainer (2) with special tool 52 0 050 and bend closed.
