BMW X5: Removing And Installing Backrest Lock Adapter Plate

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screw.

Tightening torque 52 26 06AZ. Remove adapter plate for backrest lock (1).

Version with 3rd seat row:

Unfasten screws.

Tightening torque 52 26 06AZ.

Remove adapter plate for backrest lock (1).

REMOVING AND INSTALLING BELT OUTLET TRIM

Release screws (1).

Feed out trim (2) for strap outlet.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING CROSS-MEMBER TRIM

Release screws (1).

Remove trim (2) towards front.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING INNER FOLD TRIM

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Trim, fold, inner:

Release screws (1).

Unclip trim (2) in direction of arrow.

Unclip Bowden cable from trim.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING INNER FOLLOWER TRIM

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Trim, fold, inner:

Release screw.

Unclip trim (1) in direction of arrow and remove.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT REAR PANEL TRIM

Pull out pins and lever out expander rivets.

Remove rear panel trim (1).

REMOVING AND INSTALLING LONGITUDINAL SEAT ADJUSTMENT HANDLE

Disengage spring in marked area.

Release screws (1).

Remove handle upper section (2) with handle lower section.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING MIDDLE FOLD ADAPTER TRIM

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screw (1).

Release screw (1).

Unclip trim in marked area.

Release screw (1).

Feed trim (2) in upward direction out of seat mechanism.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING MIDDLE FOLD TRIM (60 % REAR SEAT)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screw (1).

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque: 52 26 27AZ.

Release screw (2).

Carefully tighten follower (2) on seat cushion frame.

Remove trim (1) in direction of arrow and feed out of seat mechanism.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING MIDDLE SLIDE TRIM (40 % REAR SEAT)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Carefully unclip trim (1) at bottom and top.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING MIDDLE SLIDE TRIM (60 % REAR SEAT)

NOTE: Picture shows seat and backrest covers removed for purposes of clarity.

Trim, slide, middle:

Carefully unclip trim (1) at bottom and top.
